The Maister's Swamp flock was founded in 1969 after the present property was purchased by Bob and Pat Watson, with flock ewes purchased from leading local flocks.

From 1969 until 1991, rams of a Merryville blood background were used.

Maisters Swamp Merino Stud was registered in 1991 after an official inspection of Maister's Swamp ewes.
 

Since 1991, one Yoorooga Stud ram, two Hillcreston Stud rams, two Merryville Stud rams, three Gilgunyahn Stud rams and thirteen Glanna Stud rams have been purchased. Also four Glanna Poll Stud rams have been purchased for the poll stud.
 

Today, Maisters Swamp Merino Stud is owned and managed by David Watson, his wife Tina and three daughters Isabella, Sophie and Georgina.

Maisters Swamp Merino Stud currently has over 850 stud ewes, including 120 poll ewes creating the new poll stud.  All ewes have been naturally mated in single sire mobs.

The average micron of the adult stud ewe flock over the last five years is 17.7 microns with an average yield of 75% with an average fleece weight of 6.2kg including crutchings.

Our genetics are displayed at the New England Field Days at the Walcha Showground, with a full family structure and at our annual ram sale at Stanthorpe, Stanthorpe show ground, Queensland. On property ram sale held at Maisters Swamp Kentucky. 

Maister's Swamp Merino Stud is Brucellosis and Footrot Accredited Free and has OJD MN3 STATUS.

Maisters Swamp Merino Stud is situated at Kentucky, 1.7 km on the Wollun Road, turning off the New England Highway 13 km south of Uralla.
